His father, Abdul Samad, and mother, Nabeesath Beevi, shaped his character and instilled in him the values that would guide him through a life filled with both challenges and triumphs.

As the eldest of eight siblings, Dr. Rahim’s childhood came with its own set of responsibilities. From a young age, he was not only a role model to his younger siblings but also a key contributor to the family’s survival. His father, a small business owner running a modest grocery shop, taught him the importance of discipline, persistence, and being resourceful. The modesty of his early life never hindered Rahim’s ambitions. Instead, it fueled his desire to achieve more, to elevate himself and his family from the circumstances they had found themselves in.

Education was always a priority for Rahim, even though he attended government schools in his village. Rahim’s natural aptitude for academics was evident from an early age, as he consistently ranked among the top students in his class. His school years were characterized not only by academic excellence but also by a deep sense of curiosity about the world around him. These experiences planted the seeds for his future career in civil engineering.

After completing his primary education, Rahim advanced to high school, continuing his academic excellence and developing a growing passion for science and mathematics. His love for engineering intensified during this time, and he made the decision to pursue it as a career. Despite the limited resources available to him, Rahim excelled in his studies, eventually gaining admission to the University of Kerala, where he pursued a degree in civil engineering. Though his course took a little longer than expected, Rahim never lost sight of his goal. He graduated with flying colors, equipped with both the knowledge and determination to carve out a successful career for himself.

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, but it is the values you carry along the way that make the distance meaningful."

Dr. Rahim Kochummar Kunju’s life began in a small village in the district of Kollam, Kerala, where he was born into a humble but loving family. His early years were defined by the values instilled in him by his parents, Abdul Samad and Nabeesath Beevi. Growing up in a modest household, Dr. Rahim was the eldest of eight siblings. This early responsibility shaped him into the man he would later become, a leader and role model, not only to his family but to countless others who crossed his path.

His father, Abdul Samad, was a hardworking man who ran a small grocery shop. Despite the financial limitations of their household, Abdul Samad taught Dr. Rahim the importance of diligence, integrity, and perseverance. He showed him that no matter how small the business was, it was the effort and honesty behind it that mattered. Nabeesath Beevi, Rahim’s mother, was the pillar of the home, keeping the family together with love, care, and resilience. It was from her that Dr. Rahim learned the importance of nurturing relationships and maintaining inner strength during difficult times.

The family was not wealthy by any means, but they were rich in values and love. Rahim’s childhood was filled with moments of both struggle and learning. With Abdul Samad running the grocery shop, the family’s resources were often stretched thin, but they made do with what they had. As the eldest child, Rahim understood the weight of responsibility early on, helping his parents in whatever way he could. Whether it was assisting with chores around the house or looking out for his younger siblings, Rahim embraced his role as the eldest, setting an example for the others.

Despite the humble circumstances, Abdul Samad made sure that education was a priority for his children. Rahim’s parents believed that education was the gateway to a better life, and they worked hard to provide their children with opportunities that were not readily available in their village. From an early age, Rahim demonstrated a natural aptitude for academics. He quickly became known as one of the top students in his class, consistently achieving high marks. His teachers recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue his studies further, something that Rahim took to heart.

"The road to success is not a straight path but one full of lessons, challenges, and opportunities. It is the ability to stay focused, work hard, and never give up that turns dreams into reality."

Dr. Rahim Kochummar Kunju’s professional journey began the moment he stepped out of the University of Kerala, armed with a degree in civil engineering and an unshakable determination to make his mark in the world. Born into humble beginnings, he understood his education had given him the key to a better future, and he was determined to unlock every door of opportunity that came his way. His early career, however, was not an easy one. It was a journey marked by persistence, hard work, and a deep belief in his own capabilities.

After graduating, Dr. Rahim took his first steps into the professional world when he joined a private company in India. The company was involved in the construction of the Salem Airport in Tamil Nadu, and Rahim found himself working on one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the country. It required strong leadership skills, the ability to work in teams, and a problem-solving mindset.

The project involved coordinating with multiple teams, managing logistics, and overseeing the work of various contractors. Rahim’s role as a young engineer was demanding, but it also provided him with invaluable experience. He was able to work alongside some of the best engineers in the industry, learning from their expertise and gaining firsthand knowledge of the challenges that come with executing large infrastructure projects. It was a formative experience, and Dr. Rahim took away lessons that would shape his approach to leadership and management in the years to come.

However, as much as Rahim enjoyed working on the Salem Airport project, he began to realize that there were even greater opportunities waiting for him abroad.
