His mother’s nurturing love and deep faith gave him the strength to dream boldly and the courage to pursue those dreams with conviction. Their endless support and belief in him, even during the toughest times, made every achievement possible. With profound gratitude, this is for them.

Phase 1: Early Life

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu, a name that resonates with dedication and perseverance, was born on the 7th of February, 1988, in the picturesque district of Dhamtari, nestled in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. His birth marked the beginning of a journey filled with trials, aspirations, and unyielding determination, which would later define his illustrious career. Though he was born in Dhamtari, his education and upbringing were in North Bastar and South Bastar, regions known for their beauty but also infamous as dangerous strongholds of Naxalites.

Born into a middle-class family, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu was the eldest child of Mr. Sudama Lal Sahu and his devoted wife. His father, a diligent serviceman in the electricity department of Chhattisgarh, shouldered the immense responsibility of providing for the family despite the constraints of a modest salary and limited resources. Mr. Sudama Lal Sahu’s life was a testament to relentless effort; his struggles to balance the demands of a low-paying job with the aspiration of giving his children a better future left a lasting impression on young Pradeep.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu’s mother, a homemaker, was the heart of their household. Her unwavering support and dedication to her family created a nurturing environment for her children. She imbued the family with warmth, instilling values of respect, compassion, and resilience. Despite the challenges of managing a household on a tight budget, she ensured that her children felt loved and supported, creating a strong foundation for their growth.

As the eldest sibling, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu naturally assumed a position of responsibility in the family. He had a younger brother, Geetesh Sahu, and a younger sister, Harshlata Sahu, who looked up to him with admiration. The bond between the siblings was one of mutual love and support, strengthened by the shared challenges of their upbringing. From an early age, Pradeep displayed qualities of leadership and care, often guiding his younger siblings and ensuring they felt secure in the face of adversity.

Phase 2: Education Journey

The educational odyssey of Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu is a testament to his unwavering determination, resilience, and ability to overcome adversities in pursuit of excellence. Born into a modest, middle-class family in the district of Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu’s journey was shaped by financial struggles, societal expectations, and personal ambition. Despite these challenges, he rose above them with an unrelenting focus on his dreams.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu began his schooling at Shishu Mandir in Charama, a small town in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. The early years at this modest institution laid the groundwork for his educational aspirations. He studied here until Class 2, after which his family relocated due to his father’s job transfer in the state electricity department. This shift brought him to a government school, where he continued his studies from Class 3 to Class 5. The challenges of transitioning to a new environment and adapting to the limited resources of a rural government school were significant, but even at this young age, he exhibited resilience and adaptability.

During these formative years, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu’s natural curiosity and love for Mathematics and Science began to emerge. These subjects, which demanded logical thinking and problem-solving, became his passion and fuelled his dream of becoming an engineer. However, the road ahead was far from smooth.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu continued his education at G.H.S. School in Jadavpur, where he pursued his higher secondary education under the Chhattisgarh Board. He graduated in 2007 with 48% marks, earning a division 2. These results were a source of disappointment and posed a significant obstacle to his aspirations. Many doubted his ability to succeed in the rigorous science stream, which was essential for engineering studies. This scepticism became a turning point for Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu, as he resolved to prove his critics wrong.

Securing a place in the science stream was not easy. His low marks in Class 10 led to hesitation among teachers and school authorities, who questioned his capacity to handle the demanding curriculum. Yet, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu’s determination shone through. With unwavering conviction, he fought for the opportunity to pursue Mathematics and Science, ultimately securing a place in the stream that aligned with his dream of becoming an engineer.

Phase 3: Steps in Career

The career of Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu is not just a professional timeline but a saga of determination, sacrifice, and relentless learning. Coming from a modest middle-class family in the Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh, where resources were limited and opportunities scarce, his life exemplifies how hard work and an unwavering commitment to growth can lead to extraordinary success. His journey in biomedical engineering, marked by financial challenges, demanding physical labour, and a resolute focus on learning, serves as an inspiration to aspiring professionals.

A. The Humble Beginnings: A First Step into the Professional World
Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu began his professional journey in 2005 under the Indira Gandhi Scheme, a government initiative aimed at improving technological infrastructure in schools across Chhattisgarh. His role was to install antivirus software in computers provided to these institutions. Although temporary and offering little financial reward, this opportunity marked the beginning of his technical career.

The work involved long hours of travel, setting up systems in rural areas, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues with limited resources. It was an eye-opening experience that revealed to him the importance of technology in education and other fields. More importantly, it ignited his passion for technical problem-solving and hands-on learning.

Shortly after this project, he took a role as a Biomedical Trainee at Ramakrishna Care Hospital in Raipur. Here, he was introduced to the world of medical technology. Despite being an entry-level position, the role gave him his first hands-on experience with biomedical equipment like ventilators and patient monitors. Though the pay was modest, the experience was invaluable.

B. The Early Career Struggles and the Spirit to Endure
Biomedical Engineer at Ramakrishna Care Hospital (February 2013 – December 2013)
In 2013, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu officially began his journey in biomedical engineering as a Biomedical Engineer at Ramakrishna Care Hospital, a 215-bedded NABH-accredited facility in Raipur. His responsibilities included maintaining and repairing critical medical equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, ECG machines, and patient monitors.

The challenges were immense. He was paid just ₹5,000 per month, a meagre amount considering the workload and physical labour involved. Often, his job required lifting and transporting heavy equipment, climbing to access machines in tight spaces, and repairing devices under significant time pressure.
