Dr. Pankaj Kumar Akshay was part of Sunknowledgeable Service Inc., in Kolkata in the position of Deputy Operations Manager and Operations Manager. He was part of the team management and supervised a team of medical billing professionals, including billers, coders, and AR (accounts receivable) specialists. He also ensured staff was meeting productivity, accuracy, and quality standards. He provided mentorship, guidance, and accuracy and set the quality standards for the team while providing mentorship, guidance, and training to the team members.

At Sunknowledge Service Inc., he was in charge of client relationship management, where he acted as the primary point of contact for clients regarding operational matters, and ensured timely and accurate communication with clients, including reporting on billing performance, outstanding claims, and revenue cycle issues. He also worked closely with clients to resolve any issues related to the billing process, payments, or claim rejections.

He was part of Ascent Business Solutions from August 2014 to December 2015 in Nagpur and worked in the position of a team leader. He supervised a team of medical billing specialists, coders, and claim processors, assigned tasks to the team members, and monitored their performances. He was in charge of providing regular training and guidance to team members and conducting regular performance reviews and feedback sessions with them. Also, he took care of process oversight which included overseeing the accurate and timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies, medicare, medicaid, claims management process, including charge entry, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-ups.

He also monitored many KPIs such as claim acceptance rates, denial rates, and payment turnaround times. He also resolved escalated issues related to billing errors, coding discrepancies, or claim denials. Dr. Akshay was responsible for compliance and quality assurance where he ensured there was adherence to HIPAA guidelines and other health care regulations. He maintained compliance with billing codes such as CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and other payer-specific requirements. He also introduced quality control measures to minimize claim errors and reduce denial rates, which kept the team updated on changes in billing regulations and guidelines.

From October 2011 to July 2014, Dr. Akshay worked at e4e Healthcare Business Services as a senior AR analyst. He had several responsibilities during his time at e4e Healthcare and took care of them diligently. He was a part of the accounts receivable management where he monitored and managed the end-to-end AR process, including claims submission, following up on the submissions, and payment posting. He also took care of ensuring the timely and accurate filling of insurance claims with appropriate CPT/ICD codes while also tracking unpaid or partially paid claims and taking appropriate actions regarding an appeal, re-appeal, or follow-up actions with payers.

In insurance claims, sometimes it happens that the claims of the customers are denied or there are rejections or underpayments. He followed up with the customers and tried to find the reason behind the denials and how it could be resolved to correct errors. He worked with the revenue cycle management team and was involved in revenue optimization. He also was assigned the job of enhancing and streamlining billing and collection workflows. In a lot of operations in BPO, preparing and reviewing reports is an essential part of the successful functioning of the company and Dr. Akshay aced that role. He would prepare AR aging reports while keeping track of all KPIs and financial metrics. The reports would also contain detailed analyses of cash collections, unpaid claims, and billing/claim performances

Dr. Pankaj Kumar Akshay worked at R1 RCM from October 2009 to September 2011 in an insurance claims process. He worked in the position of an AR analyst and was a part of the claims management, denial management, and patient billing departments. In claims management, he reviewed and submitted insurance claims which were done accurately and timely, and then completed their tracking. He also worked in the denial of claims part and identified various strategies using which they could be processed and submitting reclaims wherever it was necessary. He was also involved in patient billing and took care of billing inquiries from customers. He also generated and sent patient statements for outstanding balances.
