Dr. Mohit Rana is a visionary leader, financial expert, and resilient fighter who has made a significant mark in the Banking and Financial Services Industry (BFSI). As the CEO of Infomerics Analytics & Research, he has driven innovation, expanded business horizons, and established a strong presence in the financial sector.

With over more than one and a half decade of experience, he has held key positions, including Director & Zonal Head at Brickwork Ratings, before joining Infomerics Ratings in 2020. His expertise spans in credit ratings, financial analytics, and ESG frameworks, making him a recognized name in the industry.

An EPBM scholar from IIM Lucknow and a financial expert from IBMI Berlin, Germany, Dr. Rana is deeply involved in SME Chamber, PHD Chamber of Commerce, IIA, and various MSME forums, where he actively contributes as a speaker and mentor.

Beyond his corporate success, he is a dedicated philanthropist, quietly working to uplift society. His never-give-up attitude and ability to lead from the front define his journey, making him an inspiration for aspiring professionals.

Phase 1 : The Founding Stone

Dr. Mohit Rana was born in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He belonged to a simple middle-class family that valued education, discipline, and hard work. His father, Mukesh Kumar, was a government officer, known for his sincerity and dedication to his job. His mother, Santosh Kumari, was a homemaker who took care of the family and ensured a warm and loving environment at home. As the only child of his parents, Dr. Mohit Rana received undivided attention and guidance from them.

From a young age, Dr. Mohit Rana was taught the importance of honesty, patience, and responsibility. His parents always encouraged him to focus on his studies and to develop good habits that would help him in the future. Since his father worked in the government sector, discipline and time management became a natural part of his daily routine. His mother, on the other hand, played a significant role in shaping his moral values and ensuring that he always stayed humble and respectful toward others.

Growing up, Dr. Mohit Rana have a very eventful childhood, as he was always curious and eager to learn. Unlike other children who spent a lot of time playing, he was more interested in understanding how things worked and why certain rules and principles existed. This curiosity made him a keen observer and a deep thinker from a young age.

His family had maintained a simple lifestyle,believing in saving money, making wise financial decisions, and always thinking about the future. This environment helped Dr. Mohit Rana develop a sense of financial awareness and responsibility early in life. He was never spoiled with unnecessary luxuries but was always given everything he needed to study well and grow into a responsible individual.

 

During his early school years, Dr. Mohit Rana was an obedient and hardworking student. He was not the most talkative child in the classroom, but he was always attentive and focused. He enjoyed subjects like science and mathematics and found great satisfaction in solving problems and understanding complex concepts. His teachers often praised him for his disciplined nature and eagerness to learn.

Phase 2 : Academic Life

“We didn’t have the money to pay for a top-tier institute, but I got into LPU on my merit, and that changed everything.”

Dr. Mohit Rana began his formal education at the age of three and a half years at DMA 1, one of the well-known of Modi’s and respected schools in Uttar Pradesh. From the very beginning, he displayed a keen interest in learning and was recognized as a disciplined and hardworking student. His early education laid a strong foundation for his academic journey, instilling in him a love for knowledge and a desire to excel.

Dr. Mohit Rana spent his formative years at Dayawati Modi Academy, where he consistently performed well in his studies. He was particularly interested in subjects like mathematics and science, which required logical thinking and problem-solving skills. His teachers admired his sincerity and dedication to academics, and he was often seen as a role model for his peers.

In 2005, he successfully completed his 10th-grade education, achieving excellent results that encouraged him to aim higher. With a growing interest in technology and computers, he chose the science stream for his higher secondary education. Over the next two years, he worked tirelessly to strengthen his understanding of subjects like physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

By 2007, he had completed his 12th grade, securing strong marks that allowed him to pursue higher education in the field of engineering. His passion for technology and computers led him to seek admission to a reputed institution where he could build a successful career in the IT industry.

In 2007, Dr. Mohit Rana secured admission to Lovely Professional University (LPU), a prestigious private university in India, to pursue a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Information Technology (IT).

He has secured admission based on his merit was one of a major achievement. He knew that completing his education successfully would not only fulfil his dreams but also make his parents proud.

During his time at LPU, Dr. Mohit Rana demonstrated exceptional dedication to his studies. He was always eager to learn new things, explore emerging technologies, and stay ahead of industry trends. Unlike many students who focused solely on completing their coursework, he took a proactive approach to gain in-depth knowledge beyond the syllabus.

One of the most remarkable achievements during his engineering years was his specialization in Oracle 10g database technology. Between 2008 and 2009, while the technology was still gaining recognition in India, he had already mastered it. His ability to grasp and apply complex concepts so early set him apart from others and positioned him as a promising IT professional even before completing his degree.

Phase 3 : A Passion for Sports

“I took archery because everyone else was choosing football or cricket. I wanted to do something different.”

Dr. Mohit Rana has been deeply passionate about sports since childhood. Unlike many of his peers who gravitated toward cricket and football, he chose to explore other challenging sports that required precision, skill, and strategic thinking. His dedication to athletics not only earned him recognition at the state and national levels but also helped him develop essential qualities such as discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.

Dr. Mohit Rana’s introduction to sports began in 8th grade, when he took up archery—a sport that demands immense concentration, patience, and physical endurance. He chose archery as an alternative to mainstream sports, drawn to its unique challenges and the level of mental focus it required.

Determined to excel, he trained under the guidance of Olympian mentor Miss Dola. Banerjee, receiving two years of professional coaching that refined his skills and deepened his passion for the sport. Through continuous practice and unwavering dedication, he soon started competing at higher levels.

His talent and hard work led him to represent both his school and state in national-level archery competitions where he secured 4th rank Pan India at National Competition. These experiences not only gave him exposure to competitive sports but also taught him the importance of patience, consistency, and handling pressure—lessons that would later help him in his academic and professional journey.

Alongside archery, Dr. Mohit Rana also pursued volleyball, a high-energy sport that requires agility, quick decision-making, and teamwork. His commitment to the game saw him rise through the ranks and earn a place among the best volleyball players in the state.

He represented Uttar Pradesh at the state level, competing in major tournaments against some of the finest athletes. His expertise as a libero, a key defensive position, showcased his exceptional reflexes, ball control, and game awareness. His dedication and performance earned him a ranking among the top 16 libero players in the state, an impressive accomplishment that highlighted his sporting abilities.

Even though he is no longer actively competing, his time as an athlete remains a crucial part of his journey, shaping the strong and determined individual he is today.
