“Wisdom is not in what we gather but in what we choose to carry forward.”

Introduction

Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sharma’s story begins in simplicity. Born into a humble family, he grew up witnessing the values of hard work and sincerity. The values his parents instilled never left him. Humility, gratitude, and responsibility became the quiet forces that shaped every choice he made, both personally and professionally.

His path towards education was not easy. With limited facilities available during his childhood, he experienced challenges that demanded patience and commitment. Yet, his desire to learn remained stronger than the difficulties around him. Those early struggles developed his determination and created the foundation for his later pursuit of medical knowledge and service.

Over the years, his understanding of healthcare deepened as he explored different areas of healing. His quest for knowledge did not remain confined to a single field. He ventured into Electro Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, and holistic wellness. Each new discipline was not merely a qualification. It was a reflection of his deep belief that learning must continue as long as life itself endures. His dedication to education was never about collecting degrees. It was about understanding the many ways healing can take shape. It was about using that understanding to serve people.

His professional journey has always been closely connected with service. Through Ayurvedic practice, yoga therapy, wellness guidance, and community awareness initiatives, he has worked towards helping people improve their health and lifestyle through natural approaches. His belief in affordable healthcare and his commitment to supporting those in need became central elements of his work.

For Dr. Ramesh, yoga was never just about movement. It was a way to guide people toward balance, discipline, and a healthier way of living. Through his classes, teachings, and wellness activities, he shared not only the techniques but also the deeper wisdom behind them. He helped people see the connection between body, mind, and inner well-being, drawing from traditional knowledge systems that had stood the test of time.

Alongside healthcare, he has also carried a strong vision of preserving Indian traditions and values. His efforts have focused on connecting people, especially younger generations, with the wisdom of Indian culture, natural living, and the principles that encourage harmony and responsibility.

This biography of Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sharma is not simply a list of achievements. It is a portrait of the human spirit, of a man who carried perseverance, compassion, and humility in his heart. Above all, it is a story of someone who always believed that the best way to live is to give back to the world around him.

“What is earned through hardship is never lost; it becomes part of who we are.”

Phase 1: Where Learning Began Beneath a Thatched Roof

The early years of Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sharma were deeply connected with the simplicity of village life, where every day carried its own challenges and every small opportunity had great value. He was born into a modest farming family where life revolved around hard work, limited resources, and close connections with nature. The environment around him was simple, yet it became the foundation where discipline, patience, respect, and responsibility slowly took shape.

During his childhood, formal education facilities were not easily available in his village. There were no government schools nearby, and learning depended on the dedication of a private teacher who travelled several kilometres on foot to teach children. The teacher came to the village and taught them in a small hut-like setting, following the principles of the traditional Gurukul education system. For young children, these lessons were not limited to books alone. They also learned values, discipline, and respect for knowledge.

The arrival of the teacher was treated with great respect. Dr. Ramesh remembers that they would bow down and offer their respects whenever the teacher came. These early experiences created a deep impression on him because education was not seen merely as a way to gain knowledge; it was considered a sacred responsibility. The values of respecting teachers and remaining humble before learning stayed connected with him throughout his life.

As he grew older, a primary school was established a few kilometres away from the village, and he received the opportunity to attend regular classes. At the age of around six or seven, he began travelling to school. The journey itself was a test of determination. The roads were not developed, there were no convenient transportation facilities, and the path often passed through difficult areas, including forests and uneven routes. For a young child, reaching school required courage and persistence.

Those were circumstances that demanded strength even before formal education had properly begun. The difficulties of travelling such distances became a normal part of his childhood. He walked through conditions that would feel unimaginable for many children today, yet those experiences slowly developed his ability to face challenges without giving up.

When he reached the sixth grade, he travelled to Thakurdwara in Moradabad district for further education. His village was around ten kilometres away, and reaching school continued to remain difficult. The journey involved rough roads and a river that came in between his home and the school. During the rainy season, when the river carried water, he had to hold his schoolbag carefully and cross by swimming. For a child travelling for education, it was a risky way, but the desire to study kept him moving forward.

"A determined heart finds a way where others see only obstacles. When the desire to know is strong enough, every barrier becomes a bridge waiting to be crossed."

Phase 2 : The Student Who Refused to Surrender His Books

Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sharma’s path as a student unfolded in circumstances where resources were limited, yet his curiosity and determination remained stronger than the difficulties around him. The challenges he faced while learning did not reduce his interest in studies; instead, they strengthened his belief that knowledge could open new possibilities.

During his school years, science became an important area of interest for him. He was naturally drawn towards understanding the world through observation and learning. However, studying science in those circumstances was not easy. The availability of resources, educational facilities, and guidance was limited. Unlike students who had access to better opportunities, he had to find his own ways to continue learning and developing his understanding.

After completing his high school education, he wanted to continue with science because it had already become an important part of his learning journey. At that time, pursuing science education required facilities that were not easily available in his surroundings. In Moradabad, the resources required for higher science education were limited, creating another challenge in his academic path. Due to these circumstances, he continued his Intermediate education through the arts stream. However, the foundation created during his high school science studies remained extremely important for his future learning.

The scientific understanding he developed during his early education later became closely connected with his medical interests. For him, science was not only a subject studied in classrooms; it became a way of observing, questioning, and understanding life. The curiosity that developed during those years continued to guide his later exploration of healthcare and healing practices.

When he completed Intermediate, his family did not have complete awareness about the different opportunities available for further studies or the process required to continue education. Like many young people from similar surroundings, he had to understand the next steps through experience and personal effort.

After Intermediate, he moved to Aligarh with the intention of finding work. He joined Gandhi Ashram, where he initially went with the expectation of working in a clerical position. At that stage, he did not yet have a medical degree, and this period became an important experience that exposed him to a different kind of struggle.

The work he received was not limited to maintaining accounts. Over time, he was asked to perform physically demanding responsibilities, including carrying heavy blankets and materials to upper floors. He had to climb several floors while carrying significant weight. This continued for a period of time and placed a great physical strain on him.

“Sometimes what breaks us open also sets us free, for the cracks we fear most often become the very places where new light finds its way in.”

Phase 3 : Pain That Redirected the Course of His Life

After completing his Intermediate education, Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sharma entered a stage of life where he had to make decisions based on circumstances rather than comfort. Coming from a background where educational opportunities were limited and professional guidance was not easily available, he understood that the next step would require personal effort and courage.

At that time, his family did not have complete knowledge about the opportunities available after education or the process through which he could continue his studies. Like many young people who had to find their own direction, he stepped outside his familiar surroundings to explore possibilities. He joined Gandhi Ashram, where he initially went with the expectation of working as a clerk.

When he reached there, he was prepared to take up clerical responsibilities. However, the reality of the work turned out to be different from what he had expected. Along with maintaining accounts, he was gradually given physically demanding tasks. He was required to carry heavy blankets and other materials and take them up several floors. The responsibility demanded significant physical effort, and he continued performing the work without stepping back.

For someone who had already experienced many challenges in his educational part, this was another test of endurance. He accepted the responsibilities that came his way, but the continuous physical strain eventually affected his health. During this period, he developed sciatica, a painful condition that created difficulty in his daily activities.

The condition became a challenging experience for him. Carrying heavy weights and climbing multiple floors while suffering from pain became extremely difficult. He sought medical treatment and even visited PGI, hoping for improvement. However, despite the efforts made, the problem did not resolve as expected.

Instead of allowing the situation to break his confidence, the experience made him reflect deeply on the importance of medical knowledge. The pain he experienced created a new understanding within him. He realised that health challenges could change a person’s life and that those who possessed medical knowledge had the ability to bring relief and support to others.

This thought gradually became stronger within him. The same determination that had helped him continue education despite difficult circumstances returned once again. He decided that he wanted to become a doctor and dedicate himself to understanding health and healing. It was not a decision made out of convenience; it emerged from his own experience of suffering and his desire to help others facing similar difficulties.
