Despite the challenges of this non-civilian lifestyle, she learned to see each new place as an opportunity to grow, make new friends, and broaden her cultural horizons.
While her father’s military career placed substantial hardship demands on the family, it was Dr Takano. Ramirez’s mother, Hisako Takano, who played the most important part in her values and outlook on life. A proud Japanese born woman, upon settling in America, Linda Hisako Takano Ramirez had a deep respect for the traditions of both her heritage and her adopted country. She was a woman of remarkable strength and dedication, herself being a survivor of the Nuclear Holocausts, this maternal influence and drive on Dr. Takano Ramirez was profound. She was often the new kid in school, yet her mother’s lessons on perseverance and her father’s example of dedication helped her face each new environment with confidence.
As Dr. Takano Ramirez grew older, she began to develop a love for wonderment in the academics, particularly in the areas of science and mathematics. Though she excelled in these subjects, her journey was not without its hurdles. Like many young students, she faced challenges, particularly during the Vietnam War and her father’s dedication to the Military, which created the constant upheaval with education and the entire family’s upbringing. Her mother kept the family tight and secured, instilling the same survival instincts she obtained in her youth, which drove Dr. Takano Ramirez to push through these challenge and obstacles. Instead of shying away from the difficulties she faced, Dr. Takano Ramirez embraced them as opportunities to learn and grow. Her academic achievements directly reflected her work ethic and set the stage for her future accomplishments.

Early on, her interest in these fields became apparent, and her teachers quickly recognized her potential. Her teachers were often impressed by her ability to grasp complex concepts quickly, and her strong work ethic ensured that she remained at the top of her class.
But the road to academic success wasn’t always easy. While Dr. Takano Ramirez excelled in math and sciences, she had a lot of trouble focusing her creative ideas within the constraints of standard educational institutions and figuring out her true destiny. Despite the difficulties, she did her best in her academics and continued pursuing a prosperous future. Her determination and willingness to learn about each subject would become a defining trait of her entire academic career. Her extreme focus helped her learn things that at first seemed impossible, and by the time she graduated from high school, she had developed a love of learning that would last her whole life.
At 16, Dr. Lola Takano Ramirez went on to college after high school, where she honed her academic skills and interests. She went to Irvine Valley College to study Chemistry, Mathematics and Business Administration. this early choice of chemistry showed how much she loved science and how much she was keen to learn about the world through a scientific lens. Dr. Takano Ramirez did very well in school because her mother realized early that her math and science were substantial for her age. She was not only a hard-working student, but she was also a leader in her academic community, often helping other students understand difficult ideas and giving them the help they needed to do well.
Dr. Lola Takano Ramirez began her career with the same drive and determination that had gotten her through school. With a solid background in chemistry and environmental studies, she was ready to make a name for herself in the world of science. Her first jobs were very important to her career because they let her use what she had learned in school and gain useful skills that would help her for years to come.
Her early career began at Universal Interlock Inc., where she worked as a Technical Systems Advisor from 1977 to 1979. This position marked the beginning of Dr. Takano Ramirez’s deep dive into the technical side of science and engineering, giving her a hands-on understanding of a system’s intricate engineering and electronic circuitry, and the formulations required to propel electric current throughout an entire assembly process which was a critical component of the growing technological landscape. At Universal Interlock, she was tasked with overseeing the flow of operations that entire systems could endure at maximum capacity with the smooth operation of the company’s research and development teams functioning with formulated solutions to energize their Eletro-Mechanical projects. This was no small feat, as she quickly found herself troubleshooting complex systems and learning to navigate out in the field what was still in its early stages of scientific development.
Even while working in a highly technical role, Dr. Takano Ramirez remained closely connected to her roots in chemistry. This balance between her scientific foundation and hands-on technical work gradually shaped a skill set that felt both natural and distinctive. It allowed her to approach challenges with a deeper understanding, something that set her apart in subtle but meaningful ways. She often found herself drawing from what she had learned academically and applying it to real-world situations, turning complex ideas into practical solutions. This ability to connect knowledge with application became a quiet strength in her journey, guiding her as she moved across different roles and industries, consistently contributing to progress in science and technology. Upon leaving, Dr. Takano Ramirez position was of the first female chemical engineer at Universal Interlock inc.
Dr. Takano Ramirez worked as the first female Technical Analyst and Consultant at Patterson Dental Equipment Corp. from 1979 to 1983 after leaving Universal Interlock.
