Born on 13 December 1980, Dr. Gaurav Mittal was raised in a family that valued hard work, honesty and ambition. A top performer in Class 10, Dr. Gaurav Mittal had a bright future ahead of him after pursuing higher education in Company Secretary of India after Class 12th. However, life took an unexpected turn. In 2000, when his father fell ill, he was faced with a tough decision and quit his formal education of Indian Company Secretary to take charge of the family business. What seemed like a setback turned out to be the fulcrum of his remarkable journey to success.

Through determination and business acumen, he transformed Shakti Enterprises into one of the leading firms in Aligarh’s iron and hardware industry, taking it internationally across the country’s borders. His achievements were recognized with the prestigious MSME Awards (2014-2015-2018) and in 2020 he got the notable opportunity to present his firm in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the visit of UP Governor to Aligarh in the year 2021, he was chosen to make her aware of the industries of Aligarh.

Today, as the Managing Director of Shakti Enterprises, a key member of the MSME Facilitation Council, Aligarh Division, and as the Joint General Secretary of the All-India Organization Laghu Udyog Bharati Uttar Pradesh been a Swayam Sevak at RSS and his contribution to various organizations, he continues to expand his business internationally, and aspires to reach greater heights.

Phase 1 : A Humble Beginning

In the historic city of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, known for its prestigious educational institutions and thriving industrial landscape, Dr. Gaurav Mittal was born on 13 December 1980. His birthplace, deeply rooted in a rich cultural and intellectual heritage, was a fitting backdrop for the extraordinary journey that lay ahead for him. As the youngest of four siblings, he grew up in a household where traditional values, discipline, and education were held in the highest regard.

His father, Late Jai Prakash Mittal, born in village Khadana of district Bulandshahr, lost his father Seth Vasudev Sahay at the age of 8 years, Dr. Gaurav Mittal ‘s father even after being selected in Uttar Pradesh Police, came to Aligarh and established Shakti Enterprises. He was a man of integrity and principles who believed in the power of perseverance and education. Although life wasn’t always easy, he ensured his children never lacked guidance, and instilled in them a strong moral compass.

His mother, Mrs. Abha Rani Mittal – was a nurturing mother. Being the youngest child, he had his own experiences. He had a close relationship with his three elder siblings: His eldest sister Kalpana Agarwal was the epitome of responsibility and intelligence, always guiding her younger brother with motherly affection. His elder brother Vikas Mittal played an important role as a mentor. Gunjan Garg, his sister, was a constant source of encouragement, pushing him to explore his potential beyond academics.

Growing up in a middle-class household, the importance of education, self-discipline, and honesty was emphasized daily. His parents ensured that their children received the best possible education within their means, even if it required personal sacrifices. It was in this close-knit family environment that young Gaurav Mittal’s foundational values were built— values that would later become the cornerstone of his success.

 

From a very young age, Dr. Gaurav Mittal exhibited a keen sense of curiosity. He was fascinated by books, often spending hours immersed in reading and exploring concepts beyond his grade level. His inquisitive nature and eagerness to learn set him apart from his peers. Due to his nomadic nature, he travelled extensively at a young age.

His educational journey began at Aligarh’s Gyan Mandir School, Nehru Children’s School, Babulal Jain School, where his intelligence and diligence soon became evident. He was not just a student; he was a child with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. His teachers often praised him for his sharp memory, analytical skills and ability to understand complex subjects with ease.

From his early school days, Dr. Gaurav Mittal’s academic brilliance was undeniable. His notebooks were always meticulously maintained, his homework submitted ahead of deadlines, and his classroom participation was exemplary.

Higher education as an Indian Company Secretary after Class 12th, a bright career and endless possibilities.

The year 2000 when he was 19 years old marked a significant turning point in Dr. Gaurav Mittal’s life. Just as he was preparing to embark on the next phase of his educational journey, tragedy struck home.

His father, Late Jay Prakash Mittal, the pillar of their family, fell seriously ill. It was a devastating blow—not just emotionally but also financially. The household that had always been a source of love, learning, and discipline was suddenly faced with uncertainty and hardship. As the youngest son, Dr. Gaurav Mittal could have chosen to focus solely on his studies, allowing his elder siblings to take on the responsibilities. But that was not in his nature.

Phase 3 : A Journey into Entrepreneurship

Despite the unforeseen challenges that life threw at him, Dr. Gaurav Mittal never let go of his ambitions. While many in his position would have resigned to circumstances, he saw an opportunity in adversity. He knew that true success wasn’t about waiting for opportunities—it was about creating them.

His foray into entrepreneurship was not just a choice – it was a necessity, a responsibility and above all, a mission to build something bigger than himself. Thus, grew Shakti Enterprises – a company that later redefined the iron and hardware industry in Aligarh.

In its beginning, Shakti Enterprises was a modest venture. Dr. Gaurav Mittal inherited the business, but it was far from being a thriving enterprise. The market was competitive, and the industry required deep technical knowledge, strong supplier relationships, and an impeccable reputation for quality and reliability. But Dr. Gaurav Mittal was not deterred.

Through relentless dedication and strategic decision making, Shakti Enterprises began exporting its products. Dr. Gaurav Mittal worked tirelessly, ensuring that the company was not just another business in the industry but a trusted name synonymous with quality and excellence.

In 2007, Dr. Gaurav Mittal’s perseverance and business acumen were recognized internationally. In 2014, after more than a decade of tireless work and business expansion, Dr. Gaurav Mittal received his first MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) award – a prestigious honour that recognised his hard work, vision and entrepreneurial spirit.

This award was not just a trophy; it was a symbol of resilience, innovation, and relentless pursuit of excellence. It was a reminder that every sacrifice he had made, every obstacle he had overcome, and every decision he had taken had led him to this moment.

While many entrepreneurs would have been satisfied with such recognition, Dr. Gaurav Mittal was different. Instead of slowing down, he set his sights even higher.

He envisioned Shakti Enterprises expanding beyond Aligarh, entering new markets and regions. He aimed to implement modern technological advancements in the iron and hardware industry, making operations more efficient. He planned to diversify the business, exploring new opportunities beyond the core industry.
