Kanyakumari, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean meet, was a good place for a boy to be born because he would grow up at the crossroads of tradition and progress, humility and ambition.
A lot of Dr. Comet’s early life was shaped by his father’s amazing journey. His father had to grow up quickly because of his responsibilities. Dr. Comet’s father was still a boy, only ten years old, when his own father died. The loss forced him to grow up too soon and take care of his six younger brothers and sisters. He didn’t have money or education, but he did have a strong will and a natural instinct for survival.
One of his first businesses was simple but very smart. Back then, there weren’t many coins in circulation. Dr. Comet’s father saw this problem and would take out larger amounts of money from the bank, like ten- or hundred-rupee notes, and trade them for smaller coins. He then gave these coins to shopkeepers and small vendors in the market who were always short on change. It was a small business that he started out of necessity, and it showed how resourceful he was and how well he understood what the community needed.
