The life of Dr. Thomas Brackmann is a reflection of discipline, movement, courage, and purposeful ambition. His journey brings together professional growth, authorship, travel, project management, endurance, and service.

Born in Potsdam, East Germany, he grew up during a period of major historical change. His early years introduced him to discipline through education and sport, especially judo, which later became an important part of his confidence, strength, and personal development.

From an early age, his interests revealed the direction of his mind and personality. History and sports became important to him, and both stayed with him over the years. History and politics shaped his understanding of the world, while sport gave him a practical relationship with discipline, endurance, and personal progress. His creative side also began to emerge through reading, writing short stories, and editorial work. These early experiences formed the foundation of a person who would later bring together planning, communication, storytelling, and performance in different areas of life.

After completing grammar school at the age of twenty, he joined the German Army, influenced by his interest in German history and military history. He signed up for a twelve-year officer career and began by training as a tank commander. After three years, he became an officer and led a tank platoon consisting of around fifteen soldiers and three battle tanks. The army taught him the importance of punctuality, organisation, planning, responsibility, and respect for time. Later, he shifted from tank troops to psychological operations, where communication, marketing, public relations, and creativity became more central to his work. This combination of military discipline and creative communication became one of the defining strengths of his professional life.

His educational and professional development continued through formal learning in fields connected with state and social sciences, media, PR, communication, business administration, marketing, and project management. He completed the diploma examination in Staats und Sozialwissenschaften at the Universität der Bundeswehr München in 2004. He later completed a distance learning programme as Geprüfter Medienbetriebswirt through ILS Hamburg and also pursued PR Management modules at UMC Potsdam. These experiences strengthened the professional side of his identity and helped shape his path in communication, media, organisational work, and project management.

Alongside professional growth, Dr. Brackmann built a life of exceptional personal goals. He has published four books, with his favourite being I’m Here to Finish, a work that combines sport, travel, triathlon, personal experience, and encouragement for its readers. His writing reflects his ability to turn lived challenges into meaningful stories. It also shows his desire to share lessons from life, rather than simply keep achievements to himself. His books are connected to the same spirit that runs through much of his journey: the belief that experience becomes more valuable when it can inspire others.

Phase 1: Early Life and Education

Before beginning his degree programmes, Dr. Toms Thomas first pursued technical and computer education. He completed a Diploma in Plastic Moulding Technology from the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering Technology between July 1996 and July 1999, followed by an Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications from E.T&T, Bhopal, in 1998-1999. Building on this technical foundation, he then pursued his formal business education, obtaining his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Mahatma Gandhi University, which he completed between July 1999 and June 2002.

Dr. Toms Thomas continued his educational journey by enrolling in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the same university, which he completed between July 2004 and August 2006. The MBA program expanded his understanding of business concepts, from strategic management to financial analysis, and introduced him to the broader world of international business. It was during his MBA studies that he first realized the global scope of the business world and the immense opportunities that awaited those willing to step outside their comfort zones. The program also gave him the chance to connect with peers who shared his passion for business, fostering a network of like-minded individuals who would play a crucial role in his professional journey.

After completing his education, Dr. Toms Thomas was ready to step into the professional world with the same drive and determination that had guided him through his academic pursuits. He was hired as a Sales Officer at Bharti Airtel Telecom in Bhopal, where his career started. Dr Toms Thomas was thrown into a fiercely competitive environment as a young professional in the rapidly changing telecommunications industry. He was in charge of landline sales, broadband services, and field sales in this capacity. Although his job required him to comprehend complicated goods and services, it also provided him with priceless experience in the art of selling in a highly competitive market.

In those early days at Bharti Airtel, Dr. Toms Thomas learned the importance of persistence and resilience. Sales were not just about convincing customers to purchase products; they were about building long-lasting relationships. From Bharti Airtel, Dr. Toms Thomas moved on to My Car Maruti in 2003, where he worked as a senior showroom Sales Executive. His career advanced significantly as a result of this position since it exposed him to the automotive sector. He obtained practical experience in high-end sales, customer service, and showroom floor management at My Car Maruti. He gained knowledge of the complexities of car sales and the customer journey from the initial interaction to the last transaction.

Working in a showroom environment was a pivotal moment for Dr. Toms Thomas. It was here that he truly understood the impact of excellent customer service and the power of personalized attention. He realized that customers were not just seeking a product; they were searching for an experience. This insight would shape his approach to sales for years to come, as he understood that exceptional service was key to building trust and ensuring customer loyalty.

His accomplishments at My Car Maruti were not overlooked. Dr. Toms Thomas was quickly elevated to a higher position at Popular Group in Kochi. He was given the position of Branch Head (SPC-H) at Maruti-9 Suzuki there. He was in charge of managing a group of sales experts and supervising the sales operations in this role. He was able to acquire priceless leadership experience in this new position. He gained knowledge about how to mentor and lead his team in addition to managing sales, making sure they were prepared to meet goals and uphold excellent customer service standards.

After establishing a strong foundation in the Indian market, Dr. Toms Thomas made a bold decision to venture into the international arena. The next phase of his career took him to the Middle East, a region that would present both exciting opportunities and formidable challenges.

Dr. Toms Thomas’s international journey began in May 2011 when he joined Teyseer Motors in Doha, Qatar, as a Sales Consultant SME for Suzuki. After gaining valuable experience in the Qatari market, he moved to Saud Bahwan Group in Muscat, Oman, in June 2012, where he served as Senior Executive Marketing for Toyota. This was a turning point in his professional life. With over 125,000 vehicles sold a year, including the renowned Toyota brand, Saud Bahwan Group is a major force in the Middle Eastern auto industry. In his role as Senior Executive of Marketing, Dr. Toms Thomas was in charge of overseeing vehicle modifications within tight deadlines, managing fleet sales, and managing special orders with Toyota Japan. He had a very dynamic role that required both operational excellence and strategic thinking.

After establishing a strong foundation in India, Dr. Toms Thomas’s first international role came in May 2011, when he relocated to Doha, Qatar, to join Teyseer Motors as a Sales Consultant SME for Suzuki. In this role, he managed showroom walk-ins, inbound telecalls, and SME fleet sales. His success in Qatar led to his next opportunity at Saud Bahwan Group in Oman. His time at Saud Bahwan introduced him to the complexities of managing large-scale operations in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. One of the most valuable lessons he learned was the importance of collaboration and effective communication when dealing with international partners. His ability to work across borders and manage relationships with suppliers in Japan strengthened his global perspective and business acumen even further.

Although he was extremely satisfied with his work with Teyseer Motors, it was also evident that the automotive industry was changing quickly… His success at Teyseer Motors opened doors for him, and he was soon offered a position at Saud Bahwan Group in Muscat, Oman, where he continued to build on his international experience. Digital transformation was changing business practices as the world became more interconnected. To track customer data, optimize his strategies, and streamline his marketing efforts, Dr. Toms Thomas embraced these changes and made use of digital tools. Senior management and his peers respected him for his creative approach to marketing and sales.
