This community would go on to influence the course of his life in ways that he could not have ever anticipated. Despite the scarcity of resources, a strong sense of community thrived during his upbringing. He never failed to instill in his children a sense of pride in their surroundings and a desire to make a positive contribution to the improvement of the environment. Early on in his life, Dr. Brandon Abraham gained the knowledge that no one was too tiny to make a difference in their society by paying attention to the example set by his father. Phase 2 : Higher Education Journey

Dr. Brandon Abraham’s higher educational journey was marked by early challenges and an ultimate realization of his actual passions. Dr. Brandon Abraham’s route was certainly not conventional. Dr. Brandon Abraham’s early schooling experiences were marked by academic challenges; nevertheless, it was during his time in higher education that he began to appreciate the actual potential of education. He began to see education not only as a method of achieving personal achievements but also as a weapon for bringing about societal change.

Following the difficulties he encountered in his academic pursuits, notably as a result of his dyslexia, Dr. Brandon Abraham originally questioned his place in the official education system. Throughout his time in elementary and secondary school, he struggled with reading and writing, which resulted in him feeling like he was not an adequate student. In spite of these obstacles, the experiences he had during his boyhood had ingrained in him a strong feeling of self-reliance and a resolve to succeed, even when confronted with adversity.

In the course of his studies at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), Dr. Abraham started to establish himself as a serious and reliable individual. Dr. Brandon Abraham had formed a profound interest in agriculture, a love that would drive him throughout his higher studies and professional life. Despite facing challenges in his early academic years, he managed to cultivate this desire. It was at UTT that he initially pursued formal studies in agriculture, and it was here that he started to develop a clearer understanding of the significance of the industry, not only for his own personal development but also for the development of his community and the nation as a whole.

The early experiences that Dr. Brandon Abraham had while growing up in a rural community in the centre of Trinidad that emphasized agriculture were a significant factor in his decision to pursue a career in agriculture. His perspective on agriculture was profoundly shaped by the lessons that his father taught him about the importance of self-sufficiency, as well as by the community’s emphasis on contributing to the larger good. In the eyes of Dr. Brandon Abraham, agriculture was more than just a profession; it was a symbol of sustainability, food security, and the opportunity to bring about constructive change in society. Because of this realization, he decided to pursue higher education with a concentration in agricultural sciences, although he had previously had difficulties in his academic pursuits.

During this time, one of the most significant problems that Dr. Brandon Abraham had to face was overcoming the lingering self-doubt that he had experienced as a result of his earlier scholastic struggles. Although his dyslexia had caused him to experience major setbacks in his learning, it was during his time at UTT that he finally started to understand the significance of determination. After some reflection, he arrived at the conclusion that his academic challenges did not determine his potential; rather, it was his desire and dedication to his objectives that would determine his level of success.

"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow is our doubts of today."

Phase 3 : Professional Challenges and Achievements

Dr. Brandon Abraham’s professional journey began with a series of obstacles and opportunities that would profoundly affect his career. These challenges and possibilities occurred after he had completed his higher education for the first time. Dr. Brandon Abraham, armed with his academic credentials and a profound love for agricultural development, food safety, and community empowerment, embarked on a journey to put his knowledge into practice in the real world. Nevertheless, his early experiences in the business world were anything but simple. Similar to his school journey, he encountered a great deal of difficulty; nonetheless, it was his unyielding tenacity and undying faith in his work that carried him forward throughout this time.

For the first few years of his professional life, Dr. Brandon Abraham was employed in the agricultural industry, where he held a variety of positions, including those of intern and field officer. The Ministry of Food Production in Trinidad provided him with the opportunity to gain experience in agricultural extension services during his tenure. This was one of his earlier positions. Through this position, he was able to gain practical experience working with farmers, assisting them with crop management and data collection. Through the course of this study, Dr. Brandon Abraham gained a more in-depth comprehension of the difficulties that were confronting local farmers. A significant number of these farmers suffered with restricted access to resources, farming techniques that were out of date, and inconsistent help from agricultural services. In addition to further reinforcing his dedication to enhancing agricultural techniques and guaranteeing food security, this event formed a key component of Dr. Brandon Abraham’s professional approach.

Although his work at the Ministry of Food Production was quite important, Dr. Brandon Abraham decided to look for more specialized positions because he wanted to have a more widespread impact. During his early career, he held several important jobs, one of which was as a field officer in the Quality Assurance Department of the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO). The responsibility of ensuring that the agricultural products that were being sold were up to the appropriate standards of quality and safety fell on Dr. Brandon Abraham in this situation. As a result of his work in quality assurance, he developed a keen interest in food safety and quality control, which would later become important to his undertakings. This passion significantly shaped the course of his future career.

Dr. Brandon Abraham gained an understanding of the issues that are encountered by both farmers and consumers in the agricultural supply chain during his time spent working at NAMDEVCO. His firsthand experience brought to his attention the shortcomings in quality control and food safety, along with the frequently insufficient procedures for monitoring and regulating agricultural products. His motivation to enhance these systems was fuelled by his experiences, and they also played a role in his decision to focus on food safety and quality assurance while he was pursuing his postgraduate education. Additionally, he first recognised the interdependence between agriculture, food safety, and public health while working at NAMDEVCO. He realized that in order to improve one area, it was necessary to focus on the others.
