Born on April 21, 1958, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz was shaped by his family’s strong values of fearlessness, self-determination, and a deep sense of duty. These early lessons laid the foundation for the man he would become, instilling in him a desire to live by a higher purpose and to constantly strive to make the world a better place.

At the age of 19, Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he would serve for over 22 years. During his time in the Navy, he rose through the ranks, developing leadership skills that would serve him throughout his life. As a Machinist Mate Second Class (MM2) (ESWS), he was assigned to special operations, where he learned the importance of teamwork, quick decision-making, and self-reliance. The Navy instilled in him the ability to handle high-pressure situations with clarity, ensuring the success of his team and missions. Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz’s time in the Navy was pivotal, not only shaping his leadership style but also solidifying his commitment to service and duty.

After retiring from active duty in 2001, Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz transitioned into the private sector, where he continued to build on his leadership skills. His work at Bacardi Corporation and Essroc San Juan marked the beginning of a successful career in corporate transformation, where he applied his military principles to the challenges of the business world. One of his key achievements at Bacardi was leading the transformation of the company’s bottling plant, a complex project that involved technological integration, logistics, and team management. Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz excelled in this environment, demonstrating his ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and drive innovation.

As his career progressed, Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz discovered his true passion, mentorship. Recognizing the value of the lessons he had learned, he began to guide younger professionals, helping them develop their skills and realize their potential. His role as a mentor and leader grew further when he founded GSMCPartners LLC, a global consulting firm. Through this platform, Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz helped organizations navigate transformation and growth while empowering individuals to take charge of their careers and personal development.

But it was his role as a Kentucky Colonel, Goodwill Ambassador, and Co-Founder of Globcal International, Ecology Crossroads Cooperative Foundation Inc. (ECCF), and member of the Ad Hoc International Advisory Board of Goodwill Ambassadors (AHIABGA) that became the most fulfilling part of his career. Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz worked tirelessly to bridge cultural divides, promote youth leadership, and advocate for sustainable development. His ongoing work with AIDEH Global to improve Puerto Rico’s economy, alongside his advocacy in poverty alleviation and global peacebuilding, exemplified his dedication to creating opportunities for others. It was through the wisdom and guidance of these three great people that Dr. Col. Cruz-Diaz learned some of the most fundamental life lessons: the importance of self-reliance, the strength that comes from fearlessness, and the belief that challenges are meant to be faced head-on. These lessons would become the cornerstone of his personal and professional journey, serving as the foundation upon which all future endeavors would be built.
