In 1993, a series of riots in Mumbai forced the Surve family to relocate, uprooting them from their home and community. The Hindu-Muslim riots of that year were a grim reminder of the instability that could suddenly change lives. As a young boy, Dr. Surve witnessed the division and conflict firsthand, a stark reminder of the importance of unity and harmony. This experience deeply impacted his perspective on life, fostering an appreciation for peace and stability.

The family moved to a different part of India, and although the environment was safer, the emotional toll of the move and the underlying instability stayed with Dr. Surve. His father’s health began to decline, and his career took an unexpected turn, forcing the family into a financially precarious situation. At a young age, Dr. Surve realized that his parents had given him the best possible start but life had its own set of plans. His father, once a stable provider, had to leave his job due to health reasons, and Dr. Surve quickly learned the harsh reality of financial strain. The early years of his life were thus marked by the need to adapt to an uncertain future.

The work itself was not glamorous, but Dr. Surve quickly realized that this position was teaching him valuable life skills. He learned to communicate effectively, negotiate under pressure, and navigate difficult conversations with clients. As a debt collector, he found himself constantly honing his problem-solving skills, working towards mutually beneficial solutions, and ensuring that all parties walked away satisfied.
