The life of Dr. Lalramngheta is one of dedication, service, and the unwavering pursuit of personal and professional growth. His journey has been shaped by the lessons learned from his family, mentors, and the communities he serves. From an early age, he displayed a remarkable blend of intelligence, curiosity, and a drive to excel in every aspect of life, be it academic, personal, or social. His story is not just one of academic and professional achievements but of the deep-rooted values of integrity, commitment, and responsibility that have guided his actions.

Born in Aizawl, Mizoram, Dr. Lalramngheta’s upbringing in a family with a rich legacy of service and dedication played a pivotal role in shaping his character. With a father who emphasized the importance of honesty and hard work, and a grandfather who was one of the first medical doctors in Mizoram, Dr. Lalramngheta was inspired from an early age to pursue a life dedicated to service. His father and mother were a guiding force, shaping his values of integrity and personal responsibility, values that continue to serve as the foundation of his professional journey.

His educational background, marked by his enrollment in Mary Mount School and later St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, laid the groundwork for his future successes. His academic journey was not limited to textbooks, as he also immersed himself in a range of co-curricular activities such as debates, sports, and arts. A pivotal moment in his early years came when he joined the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement. His involvement in this movement, which culminated in receiving the Rashtrapati Award, helped him develop leadership skills, a sense of responsibility, and a strong connection to his community. The values instilled in him during this time, such as discipline, teamwork, and service, would later become central themes throughout his career.

Dr. Lalramngheta’s professional journey has been a path marked by resilience, dedication, and a commitment to overcoming the challenges that life presented. After completing his degree of Bachelor of  Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry he chose to return to Mizoram, where he began his career in the State Animal Husbandry Veterinary Department. His early career was not without its difficulties, as he worked in remote areas where the infrastructure was poor and access to resources was limited. However, these challenges only strengthened his resolve and commitment to his profession. The years spent in these challenging environments helped him develop an understanding of the importance of service and the impact of community in shaping one’s professional journey.

Phase 1: Early Life and Family Foundation

Dr. Lalramngheta’s life story begins in Aizawl, Mizoram, where he was born at Civil Hospital. His early childhood was shaped by the values instilled in him by his family, especially his father, C. Lallianzauva, and the profound legacy of public service that had been passed down through generations. From the moment of his birth, he was surrounded by strong influences, the most notable being his parents, who played a central role in his upbringing. Their teachings, deeply rooted in integrity and service, laid the foundation for the man Dr. Lalramngheta would become.

Dr. Lalramngheta’s family background has always been defined by selfless service to the community, and this legacy began with his great-grandfather, the first medical doctor in the Mizo community. Not just a medical professional, but also a village chief, his great-grandfather was revered for his ability to lead and care for his people. Under the influence of the British Empire, he was encouraged to take up a government position, but instead, he chose to dedicate his life to his community, focusing on public service. This selflessness marked a family tradition that would profoundly shape Dr. Lalramngheta’s path. His grandfather, Dr. R. Doliana (L) actions set a powerful precedent for Dr. Lalramngheta’s own commitment to public service, as he was taught from a young age that personal sacrifice and integrity were essential components of a fulfilling life.

His father, C. Lallianzauva, was a man of great integrity and wisdom, a respected academic who worked in several institutions and eventually retired as an associate professor. His father’s dedication to education, ethics, and integrity played a crucial role in shaping his worldview. His father’s wisdom provided the foundation for Dr. Lalramngheta’s own understanding of what it meant to lead a life of service. One of the most significant lessons he learned from his father was the importance of standing by one’s principles, no matter the circumstances. This lesson was reinforced when his father declined a political post offered by the state legislature due to concerns over the corruption that was prevalent at the time. This moment of personal sacrifice taught Dr. Lalramngheta that integrity and honesty should always take precedence over personal advancement, a lesson that would remain central to his moral compass for the rest of his life.

However, in 2016, Dr. Nagheta faced a profound loss with the passing of his father, C. Lallianzauva, who succumbed to cancer. This loss, though emotionally devastating, became a pivotal turning point for Dr. Nagheta. The grief from his father’s death was deep, yet it reinforced his resolve to uphold the core values that his father had modeled throughout his life. His father’s passing made Dr. Nagheta even more committed to honoring the legacy of public service and community care, which had been the cornerstone of his father’s life.

Phase 2 : Educational Pursuits and Professional Beginnings

Dr. Lalramngheta’s journey toward becoming a professional in veterinary sciences & Animal Husbandry was shaped by his academic dedication, his family’s guidance, and his firm belief in the power of education and service. After his formative years at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, where he excelled academically while engaging in sports and co-curricular activities, he faced a critical crossroads. Although he had a natural inclination toward arts, his father, C. Lallianzauva, steered him towards the science stream. His father’s wisdom, grounded in a belief in practicality and stability, shaped this important decision. He initially struggled with the shift in focus, but with time, he recognized the long-term benefits of science, particularly the opportunities it presented to serve his community.

After his schooling, Dr. Lalramngheta cleared the v entrance test and was admitted to the college of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Selesih (Central Agricultural University Imphal) Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) degree, a field that resonated deeply with his desire to contribute to public health and animal welfare. This decision aligned with his family’s legacy of service. His great-grandfather, a revered medical doctor and village chief, had set a strong precedent for public service and selflessness, and these values were ingrained in him throughout his upbringing. From a young age, he was taught that service to the community should always take precedence over personal ambition.

His studies at Central Agricultural University, Imphal, marked the beginning of his specialization in veterinary science. As a veterinary student, Dr. Lalramngheta developed a deep understanding of the connection between animal health and human well-being, particularly in underserved areas where access to veterinary care was limited. Throughout his academic journey, he maintained a strong academic record, consistently placing in the top five of his class. His time in college allowed him to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experiences, particularly through his engagement with animal care initiatives and field-based projects.

Despite his academic success, Dr. Lalramngheta was not content to stop at his undergraduate education. His dedication to lifelong learning led him to pursue postgraduate studies in Veterinary Parasitology with additional studies in Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology& Veterinary microbiology, focusing on diseases that affect both animals and humans, particularly zoonotic diseases (those transmitted between animals and humans). In 2020, after 15 years of professional service, he took the bold decision to return to academia and enrolled in a Master’s program. By 2023, he completed his Master’s degree, gaining advanced expertise in the field of veterinary medicine. This decision exemplified his belief in continuous education, even after having established himself professionally.

Phase 3 : Early Career Development and Overcoming Challenges

After completing his postgraduate studies in Veterinary Parasitology, Dr. Lalramngheta began his career in veterinary science in some of the most isolated regions of Mizoram. The first phase of his professional journey was defined by significant challenges, but also remarkable growth and personal development. His early work focused on providing veterinary care to livestock and wildlife in rural areas where there was very limited access to healthcare. These regions were remote, with poor infrastructure, and difficult terrain, making it a tough environment for any professional. Yet, these challenges shaped his professional character, teaching him resourcefulness, adaptability, and the importance of community engagement.

In 2008, Dr. Lalramngheta joined the state department as a Veterinary Officer, a role that allowed him to engage directly with the local communities. The lack of infrastructure in these areas was overwhelming, and the conditions in which he worked were far from ideal. However, he viewed this as an opportunity to make a real impact in the community by improving animal health, which was intrinsically linked to the welfare of the people. The responsibility of treating animals while educating the community on the importance of preventing zoonotic diseases (diseases that can spread from animals to humans) was enormous. Yet, it was through these experiences that he saw the true value of veterinary care as a tool for improving public health.

As a Veterinary Officer, Dr. Lalramngheta was tasked with serving rural communities where animal health was neglected, and zoonotic diseases posed a significant risk to the population. His role was not just about treating sick animals; it was about educating local farmers on prevention and teaching them better animal husbandry practices. The focus of his work was on creating awareness and building systems for preventive care, which would not only protect animals but would also ensure the health and well-being of humans.

Dr. Lalramngheta’s approach to his work was based on his belief that public health was closely linked to animal health. The education he provided to farmers about disease prevention, along with the hands-on veterinary care he delivered, became a cornerstone of his professional identity. He not only treated animals but also worked tirelessly to change the way livestock care was understood in these communities, laying the groundwork for improved practices that would help prevent outbreaks of zoonotic diseases.
