Though modest in means, his household was deeply rooted in values—respect, hard work, and the quiet determination to rise with dignity. His upbringing laid the foundation for a life shaped not by privilege, but by perseverance and purpose.

He is the beloved son of Mr. Runjit Kumar Mihdidin (late) and Mrs. Vidyawayee Mihdidin, both of whom played defining roles in shaping his moral compass and vision. His late father, remembered as a man of integrity and quiet strength, provided an enduring example of responsibility and resilience. Though no longer physically present, Mr. Runjit Kumar Mihdidin’s legacy continues to echo in the disciplined life his son leads. His mother, Mrs. Vidyawayee Mihdidin, a constant source of warmth and support, instilled in him a sense of compassion and balance—qualities that would later manifest in both his teaching and leadership.

Growing up with his younger brother, Mr. Avinash Mihdidin, the family dynamic was one of mutual respect and camaraderie. Like his elder brother, Mr. Avinash Mihdidin followed a path in physical education and currently serves as a physical educator with a specialization in badminton. The brothers have frequently collaborated in various sporting and community activities, with Mr. Avinash Mihdidin regularly offering his support and expertise during club events and Taekwondo training sessions. “Education was never just about books—it was a path to discipline, self-mastery, and the resilience to rise, no matter where you start.“

The story of Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR’s academic life begins on the island of Mauritius, where he enrolled at Eden College, Rose-Hill in 1990. As a young and curious student, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR quickly developed a thirst for knowledge, encouraged by a disciplined academic environment and supportive educators.

During these formative years, he immersed himself in a broad spectrum of subjects, consistently showing an affinity for both intellectual pursuits and structured learning. His hard work paid off when he sat for the School Certificate (S.C.) examination in 1995, and later the Higher School Certificate (H.S.C.) in 1998, both under the prestigious University of Cambridge. Successfully passing both international exams, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR emerged from Eden College with a solid academic foundation and the confidence to step into higher education.

After a brief pause in formal study, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR reignited his academic path in 2003, this time in India, at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (L.N.I.P.E.), Gwalior—an institution revered for producing elite sports educators and professionals.

For the next four years, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR immersed himself fully into the science and philosophy of physical education. He pursued a dual academic track, earning both his Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.E) and Bachelor of Physical Education – Professional (B.P.Ed). These years were transformative, as he gained not only technical knowledge of the human body and sports training but also an appreciation for discipline, leadership, and teamwork.

Life at L.N.I.P.E. was as physically demanding as it was intellectually stimulating. Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR honed his skills in biomechanics, coaching methodologies, exercise physiology, and sports psychology—subjects that would later shape his contributions to education and athletics. By 2007, he had successfully completed his degree and was already envisioning how he could use his knowledge to lead and inspire others.

Years after his graduation, with experience under his belt, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR sought to deepen his impact—not just in classrooms or on the field, but within institutions themselves. In 2012, he took the next leap by enrolling in a postgraduate program in Educational Leadership and Management.

This time, his academic path took him to the Doha Academy of Tertiary Studies, with academic affiliation to Ripha International University (Pakistan). It was a pivotal period in his life, marked by both personal growth and professional clarity.

In 2014, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR broadened his horizons further by embracing the international sports arena. He undertook and completed a prestigious program—Diploma in Management of Olympic Sport Organisations, offered by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through its Olympic Solidarity initiative.

This certification wasn’t just an academic achievement—it was a realization of his lifelong passion for sport on a global scale. Through this program, he developed expertise in managing sports organizations, interpreting the Olympic Charter, understanding ethics in athletics, and managing events and athlete programs with precision.

Alongside his academic qualifications, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR has always valued technological literacy. Understanding the importance of digital tools in education and management, he developed competencies in Word Processing, Spreadsheet Processing, Data Analysis, and AutoCAD.

Whether designing curriculum frameworks, analysing institutional data, or contributing to educational innovation, his ability to navigate technology has made him a more effective educator and administrator in a rapidly digitalizing world.

Phase 3 : The Sporting Life

“Taekwondo taught me the art of control, the discipline of practice, and the quiet humility of knowing there’s always more to learn.“

The roots of Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR’s athletic journey can be traced back to his university years at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Gwalior, India. It was here that he began to shape his identity not just as a scholar of human movement, but as a serious athlete. While immersed in the rigorous curriculum of physical education, he chose to specialize in Weightlifting—a discipline that requires more than brute force. It demands precision, control, and an acute awareness of the body’s biomechanics.

Through daily discipline and relentless training, he developed the explosive power, coordination, and mental toughness that define a weightlifter. It was not just about lifting heavy weights—it was about technique, consistency, and the ability to push past physical and mental limits. The sport also instilled in him a deep appreciation for form, posture, and functional movement, lessons he would later integrate into his teaching and coaching. This early foundation in strength sport not only gave him physical capability but also cultivated the virtues of perseverance and patience—qualities that would guide him across multiple athletic disciplines and leadership roles throughout his career.

While strength laid the foundation, it was martial arts—particularly Taekwondo—that became Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR’s lifelong pursuit and spiritual discipline. What began as a student’s curiosity soon evolved into a path of mastery, dedication, and national service.

Years of structured training and competition led him to earn some of the highest honours in the sport. He was awarded the 5th Dan Black Belt from Kukkiwon—the world Taekwondo headquarters based in South Korea—recognizing his international proficiency in technique, teaching, and competition. Additionally, he holds a 6th Dan National Black Belt, conferred by the Mauritius Taekwondo Federation, solidifying his status as one of the country’s most respected martial arts practitioners.

His mastery was not acquired overnight. It was the result of countless hours of rigorous physical conditioning, technical refinement, and mental preparation. As he progressed through the ranks, Taekwondo became more than a sport—it became a way of life. It taught him humility, focus, and a deep respect for discipline and tradition.

Even as he became a teacher and leader, Dr. MIHDI DIN KIRAN KUMAR remained a student of the martial art, continuously evolving, learning, and challenging himself. His journey from a young practitioner to a fifth and sixth dan black belt reflects a long-term commitment to growth and integrity, on and off the mat.

"Strength lies not just in medals or degrees, but in the quiet perseverance to build, nurture, and empower."
