Dr. Baki Böke’s academic adventure began in his home country of Türkiye, where his love for learning had been cultivated since childhood. His first significant step in this journey took him to the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) in Cyprus, where he completed his undergraduate studies. At EMU, Dr. Baki was exposed to a diverse range of perspectives, interacting with students from various cultures and backgrounds. It was during his time at EMU that Dr. Baki first encountered the world of International Trade. Fascinated by the complexities of global markets, trade policies, and the intricate web of economic interactions between nations, Dr. Baki was driven to pursue further studies in this field. He was also drawn to the idea of working at the intersection of economics and diplomacy, where knowledge of trade could help facilitate better international cooperation and economic development.
This drive to deepen his understanding of global commerce led Dr. Baki to the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, where he enrolled in a Master’s program in International Trade. Studying in one of the world’s most renowned academic environments, Dr. Baki was exposed to the cutting-edge research, theories, and practices of international trade. The rigorous academic environment, combined with the world-class faculty and the diverse student body, provided him with the ideal setting to expand his intellectual horizons. It was at Essex that Dr. Baki honed his critical thinking skills, learned to evaluate complex international trade scenarios, and gained the confidence to tackle the most pressing global economic issues.
