INTRODUCTION
Dr. Rishideo Bissessur is a personality who is remarkable and outstanding in all professional and personal aspects of his life. Dr. Rishideo started his journey with a Certificate in General Nursing which he gained from the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life in Mauritius. After that, he has never looked back and has gone on to receive a multitude of degrees viz., Certificate in HIV/AIDS Care & Counselling, Diploma in Yoga & Alternate Therapies, Certificate in Advanced Teacher’s Training Diploma, Bachelor of Arts in Nursing Science with Health Sciences Education & Health Services Management, etc., which have taken his career to new heights. He started his career in the nursing department of the healthcare field as a student nurse, after which he became a nursing officer. He kept climbing the hierarchical ranks of the organization and soon became a nursing teacher.

It proved to be a transformative period for Dr. Rishideo, as he gained an in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular conditions, diagnostic procedures, and treatment protocols.
Dr. Rishideo was given key assignments later on in high-intensity clinical settings. He worked in Burns Unit Male, from January to May 2005 and tackled a unique set of challenges. The Burns Unit required advanced knowledge as well as an empathetic and compassionate approach to patient care. Patients in these units often face life-threatening injuries, and it was required from Dr. Rishideo also to be able to provide them with emotional support and positive encouragement as they battled these injuries and tried to save their lives with medical procedures.
By the year 2010, Dr. Rishideo was fully dedicated to his work in the Cardiac Intensive Care Units which continued for four years till 2014. He was largely focused on Cardiac Day Hospital and Angio Ward and from 2014 to 2015, he worked in Coronary Care Units(CCU). It is because of these postings that he has become an authority in the nursing field and one of the most sought-after officials when it comes to working on delicate procedures.
Soon, Dr. Rishideo started getting involved in nursing education and training, and from 2014 onwards, he started getting involved in teaching and mentoring young nursing students. By 2017, he had become a renowned name in the nursing education department and was leading nursing workshops, seminars, and hands-on training sessions in critical care nursing.
In April 2023, Dr. [Name] was appointed as the Charge Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), at Victoria Hospital, Candos, Mauritius. His career began in May 2000 when he enrolled as a Student Nurse at the Central School of Nursing, Victoria Hospital, which is a prestigious hospital and which has shaped his nursing career. This period taught him a lot about the nursing profession and he learned the basics of the profession during this period.
Dr. Rishideo joined the Trust Fund for Specialised Medical Care Cardiac Centre as a Trainee Specialised Nursing Officer in January 2004. This was a great position for him as he learned about the various aspects of decision-making in the emergency room which can affect the life and death of a person. This was a great learning experience and he was soon appointed as a Trainee Nurse Educator at the Central School of Nursing in December 2004, after which he became a renowned nursing officer.
He soon accepted a leadership position when he became a Lecture Coordinator for the CNE (Continuing Nursing Education) Committee at Victoria Hospital which soon turned into a Trainee Nurse Administrator in March 2006. This opportunity provided him with a platform where he could bring meaningful change in the nursing world and take care of the development of future nursing staff.
He put another feather in his cap when in May 2018, he was appointed as Nurse Mentor at Victoria Hospital Candos. This position allowed him more influence over the development of training material for nurses, and he would directly mentor the upcoming nursing staff and personnel. He ensured that the students learned how to maintain the highest standards of care, compassion, and professionalism in their jobs and learned to empathize with patients and lend a helping hand to them, whenever the need arose.

In July 2023, he was honored with the American’s Outstanding Achievements Knowledge in Nursing Field Award, followed by the Asia Excellency Award in Nursing for 2022-2023 in December 2023.
